Ohio Officer Fatally Shot At Domestic Dispute Call ?
An Ohio police officer has been fatally shot while responding to a domestic dispute in the northeast part of the state. Authorities say 31-year-old Girard police officer Justin Leo was shot just after 10 p.m. Saturday as he and another officer approached the door of a home and the suspect opened fire. Leo died during surgery at a local hospital.

Charleston Hartfield was a military man. A policeman. A family man. And a prepared man. So it didn't surprise those who knew him that he had instructions — a computer file called “Charleston Hartfield's Memorial Service” — that offered careful plans for what to do in the event of his death. Man Killed, Woman Injured In South L.A. Shooting: LAPD ?
A man was killed and a woman was injured in a South Los Angeles shooting early Saturday, according to the LAPD. The incident occurred about 12:45 a.m. near the intersection of Montclair Street and 7th Avenue, in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of South L.A., the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Investigators believe some sort of dispute led to the shooting.

Police Searching For Gunman Who Killed A Man Near Gold Line Station In Lincoln Heights ?
A man was shot dead near the Gold Line train station in Lincoln Heights by one of three men who approached him and began arguing, police said Sunday. The incident occurred a little before 11 p.m. Saturday in the area of Marmion Way and French Avenue, said Sgt. James Zboravan, of the LAPD's Northeast station. One of the suspects fired at least four shots at the victim, Zboravan said.

Man Shot And Wounded On Welby Way In Reseda
? A man was shot and wounded Friday night in Reseda. The shooting was reported at 9:15 p.m. when someone called police to say their friend had been shot in the 19300 block of Welby Way, near Tampa Avenue, according to Officer Drake Madison of the LAPD's Media Relations Section. The man was taken to a hospital by ambulance but his condition was not immediately available, Madison said.

Guys Who Couldn't Shoot Straight: 30 Rounds Of Gunfire, One Wound ?
Two suspects fired about 30 rifle and handgun rounds at a group of drinking friends outside a home in the Gramercy Park area of South Los Angeles early Sunday, but only one man was shot in the leg. The targeted friends were outside at 1:20 a.m. at 8810 South Wilton Place when two males walked up and fired about 30 rifle and handgun rounds at them, said Officer T. McLaughlin of the Los Angeles Police Department ‘s 77th Street Station.

Information Sought In Sylmar Hit-And-Run That Led To 26-Year-Old Man's Death
? The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking help in locating the driver of a car who struck a 26-year-old man, leaving him with fatal injuries, then fleeing the scene of the crash. Wilber Hernandez, 26, of San Fernando was walking across Gladstone Avenue, South of Bledsoe Street around 11:40 p.m. Oct. 6 when a black BMW hit him, according to a statement from the police department.

Police Searching For Suspects In Violent Sun Valley Home Invasion ?
Los Angeles police sought two men who committed a home-invasion robbery Friday in Sun Valley. The crime occurred about 12 a.m. in the 11200 block of Elkwood Street, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. The masked men were reportedly armed with a gun and baseball bat. The men got in through an open window, tied up four family members and fled with valuables, police said.

Three people suspected of igniting one of the city's worst apartment fires — killing 10 people, seven of them children — must stand trial. A judge on Friday ordered gang members Ramiro Valerio, Joseph Monge and Johanna Lopez to go to trial, the Associated Press reported.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell recently reaffirmed that it is his “responsibility to ensure the safety of more than ten million residents, which includes using whatever tools necessary and available that can save the life of a human being.” McDonnell added that “I will not face the loved ones of a victim whose life could have been saved by our ability to deploy” and “I cannot imagine meeting with the spouse or parent of a fallen deputy and say, yes, we could have done more.”

Body Cam Study Shows No Effect On Police Use Of Force Or Citizen Complaints ?
Having police officers wear little cameras seems to have no discernible impact on citizen complaints or officers' use of force, at least in the nation's capital. That's the conclusion of a study performed as Washington, D.C., rolled out its huge camera program. The city has one of the largest forces in the country, with some 2,600 officers now wearing cameras on their collars or shirts.

Police who were shot while protecting congressman given ‘Officer of the Year' award
Two police officers were honored with the Officer of the Year award after jumping into action when a congressman was shot. FOX News reported that Special Agents Crystal Griner and David Bailey were honored with the award for their actions in the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise in June when a gunman critically injured him at a Congressional baseball practice. “Special Agents Griner's and Bailey's selection as Officer of the Year … is a significant honor from the law enforcement community and is a testament to their heroism on June 14,” U.S. Capitol Police Chief Matt Verderosa said. “The Department, and I as their Chief, are tremendously proud of all of them and congratulate them.”

The official World Series logo was being applied by hand to the edges of the field. The “Top of the Park'' souvenir shop was packed all day long. Hats, t-shirts, baseballs, sweatshirts, keychains, bats, game jerseys, and toys were being sold at record pace. One woman we were with literally bought 16 hats at $28 a piece.
