Police Once Saved Life Of Suspect Accused Of Killing Ohio Officer
Police say they saved the life of alleged cop killer Jason Marble by performing CPR and giving him Narcan in 2015. Marble is now accused of fatally shooting Ohio police officer Justin Leo. “It was rather disturbing to find out that we saved his life, and two years later he ended an officer's life,” Liberty Township Police Chief Rich Tisone told WJW on Monday.

Two Dead, CHP Officer Shot In Lake County Rampage
Two people were killed Monday in Lake County and three injured, including a CHP officer who was shot, when a 61-year-old Clearlake Oaks man went on a rampage just before noon. Sheriff Brian Martin said the suspect, Alan Ashmore, was arrested without incident about 11:50 a.m.

As bullets rained down on a Las Vegas concert crowd earlier this month, killing dozens, many of the 200-plus Southern California police officers attending the festival shifted instantly into law-enforcement mode. They sprang to action – repeatedly shepherding people to safety, performing CPR and helping local authorities secure the area – sometimes sustaining gunshot wounds or other injuries in the process.

Fatal Shooting In Vermont Square Area Of South Los Angeles
A man was found shot to death Monday in the Vermont Square area of South Los Angeles, authorities said. Police learned of the body in the 1700 block of West 52nd Street at about 1:40 a.m., said Sgt. Thomas Bojorquez of the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station.

LAPD arrested a woman on Monday who is possibly connected to a recent string of arson fires in the North Hollywood area. Police confirmed they took 35-year-old Angelina McWhirther into custody on unrelated warrants while her possible role in the arsons is investigated.

Stolen Vehicle Suspect Arrested Following High-Speed Pursuit
A stolen vehicle suspect led authorities on a chase through downtown Los Angeles before abandoning the pickup truck in Boyle Heights late Monday. The driver of a stolen black pickup truck weaved his way through the city's streets, at times driving on the wrong side of the road and even narrowly missing a bicyclist and other drivers.

LAPD Arrests 18 In Day-Long Aliso Canyon ‘Shut It Down' Protest Near Porter Ranch
Wearing hazmat suits and carrying tombstones, about 100 protesters gathered in Porter Ranch on a windy Monday to demand that Gov. Jerry Brown close the Aliso Canyon gas fields down once and for all because they say it is an ongoing public health risk. Eighteen of them were later arrested for failing to disperse.

Sex Molesting Teacher's Fifth Grade Victim ‘Full Of Fears,' Childhood Destroyed
A former fifth-grade teacher at a South Los Angeles elementary school has apologized in court as he was sentenced to nearly four years behind bars for molesting a female student. Rudy Meza, 54, who taught at Hooper Avenue Elementary, pleaded no contest in September to one felony count of committing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14 and a misdemeanor count of molesting a minor.

However, when gun shows occur in California, the state does not experience an increase in firearm-related trauma over the next fortnight. The findings, published Monday in the Annals of Internal Medicine, show that state gun laws have a measurable effect on public safety, especially when it comes to gun shows, the study authors wrote.

A police officer that was killed nearly 40 years ago was memorialized on the street where he was sh ot. NY Daily News reported that the street was renamed in honor of NYPD Patrolman David Guttenberg. "Ou r hearts are full knowing that he has not been forgotten 39 years after his death,” Guttenberg's daughter Amy Guttenberg-Windsor said.

LA May Soon Let You Drive Faster On Many City Streets. Here's Why
Nearly half of Los Angeles' streets have speed limits based on outdated speed surveys, which has prevented Los Angeles police officers from using radar and laser devices to enforce rules against speeding. But that may change soon, city officials say. Speed limits have expired on about 47 percent, or 596 miles, of streets, rendering those limits unenforceable in most cases, according to LAPD and Los Angeles Department of Transportation officials.

For First Time In 3 Years, Red Flag Parking Restrictions Will Be In Effect In LA
For the first time in three years, red flag parking restrictions will be in effect on Tuesday in the city of Los Angeles. The restrictions will take effect at 8 a.m. and remain in force for at least 24 hours, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. It's the first time the LAFD has imposed the restrictions since May 2014.
