LAPD Union Joins National Push For Ban On Gun Accessories, Better Community Relations ?
The Los Angeles Police Protective League has thrown its support behind a national effort to ban certain gun accessories and encourage police and professional sports teams to work together to improve encounters between officers and residents. The union that represents thousands of rank-and-file LAPD officers has joined several other big-city police unions and the San Francisco 49ers in the effort, which will formally be unveiled at a news conference Thursday morning.

Argument Leads To Gunfire In South LA, 1 Man Wounded ?
A man in his 30s was shot and wounded Wednesday after arguing with two men in South Los Angeles. The victim argued with two men, both thought to be 25-30 years old, at about 5:25 p.m. in the area of 49th Street and Budlong Avenue before one of the suspects pulled a gun and opened fire, according to Los Angeles Police Officer Sal Ramirez.

Suspects At Large After Violent Home Invasion In Panorama City ?
A group of robbers entered a Panorama City home Thursday morning and assaulted at least one of the residents inside before taking off with some of family's possessions, police said. The family told news outlets they believed they were targeted because they are in the jewelry business. The home invasion occurred around 2 a.m. at 8007 Broadleaf Ave., said an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Division.

Las Vegas Gunman's Brother Charged In Child Pornography Case In San Fernando Valley ?
Bruce Paddock, a younger brother of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock, was arrested in Valley Village Wednesday and has been charged with possession of pornography and sexual exploitation of a child, authorities said. The child pornography investigation took place in the 5300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez confirmed to KTLA, and aerial video from Sky5 showed a man being taken into custody there about 8:40 a.m.

LAPD Asked For Ways To Prevent Suicides, Accidents At City Hall Observation Deck 
?A City Council committee Wednesday unanimously approved a motion that would direct the police department to explore ways to improve safety measures for the observation deck at Los Angeles City Hall. On Sept. 11, a man caused a significant response from the city's police and fire departments when he climbed over the railing of the observation deck and sat on an edge of the building in what appeared to be a suicidal gesture.

Man Shot To Death In Parked Inglewood Vehicle Identified As 28-Year-Old
?Authorities today identified a man who was fatally shot as he sat in a parked vehicle in Inglewood. The shooting was reported about 9:45 p.m. Monday near 111th Street and Prairie Avenue, said Inglewood Police Lt. Cardell Hurt. Jonathan Guzman, 28, died at a hospital, the coroner's office reported.

California's Supreme Court won't reconsider its decision upholding a voter-approved measure meant to speed up executions in the state.
