Police Officers Give Family Struggling With Illness An Early ‘Blue' Christmas To Remember
A South L.A. family received an early Christmas surprise from suited do-gooders in blue, not red. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department provided some holiday cheer for the Lopez family. Mother Angelina was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, but her illness came back and aggressively spread to other parts of body. As part of “Operation Blue Christmas,” an initiative of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, officer Yesenia Rodriguez and Sgt. Jerretta Sandoz showed up to ease some of that pain, emotionally, at least, with cheer and presents for the family of six.

Pacoima Teen Killed In Drive-By Shooting; LAPD Seeking Suspects
A 19-year-old Pacoima man died after being shot Friday evening and authorities are seeking the public's help to find his killer. The victim was identified as David Ibarra, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a press release issued Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Police Search For Suspect In Unprovoked Attack On Elderly Man In Hollywood
Authorities have released video footage of an unprovoked attack in Hollywood that left a senior citizen with serious injuries. The victim, whose name and exact age were withheld, was attacked about 8 a.m. on Oct. 20 in the 800 block of North La Brea Avenue, about a block north of Melrose Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Man Detained After LAPD Pursues Jeep Through San Fernando Valley Area
At least one person was in custody following a Los Angeles police pursuit in the San Fernando Valley area on Wednesday. The two suspects involved were wanted in connection with a theft that occurred at an electronics store on Woodley Avenue, according to Los Angeles Police Officer Sal Ramirez.

‘Penny Bandit' Armed Robber Hunted In Canoga Park Gas Station Heist
Authorities sought the public's help Thursday in identifying an armed robbery suspect who held up a gas station in Canoga Park. Detectives released video Wednesday of the armed robbery, in which more than $800 in cash and cigarettes were taken.

North Hollywood Traffic Collision Involves Person Claiming To Be Shot By Gun, LAPD Says
After a non-life threatening three-vehicle traffic collision Wednesday in North Hollywood, one person inside of a vehicle said they had been shot, authorities said. The crash was reported at 6:50 a.m. on the 6000 block of Satsuma Avenue, said Los Angeles police Officer Irma Mota.

Transient Accused Of Attacking 4 People On Hollywood Boulevard With Knife, Screwdriver
A transient who allegedly stabbed a man and a woman and attacked two hotel employees in Hollywood last week was behind bars Wednesday on attempted murder and other charges. Daniel Samuel Jones, 34, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to attempted murder and four felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon -- a knife and a screwdriver -- stemming from the alleged Nov. 22 attacks, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

Palos Verdes High School Student Pleads Not Guilty In South Los Angeles Gang-Linked Murder
Palos Verdes High School student Cameron Terrell, 18, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a gang-related killing in South Los Angeles. His attorney, Jovan Blacknell, issued a statement which said in part, "Today was Cameron's arraignment. He entered a plea of not guilty and denied all special allegations."

Downtown L.A. Developer Could Receive $103.3 Million In Public Financial Assistance
A developer seeking to build 1,130 hotel rooms across from the Los Angeles Convention Center could receive $103.3 million in public financial assistance over 25 years under a proposal heading to the City Council. New York City-based  Lightstone Group could secure an amount equal to 100% of the hotel tax revenues generated by its downtown hotel project during its first eight years of operation, according to projections prepared for city lawmakers on the proposal.
