Oregon Cop In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Alleged Drunken Driver
A Tigard police officer hit by an alleged drunken driver while on his way home after work remains hospitalized in critical condition Friday. Matthew Barbee suffered severe head and neck trauma after he was rear-ended around 1:35 a.m. Thursday while waiting in his parked car for roadside assistance, said Tigard Detective Jeff Herring.

Suspect Who Shot 2 Missouri Officers In Custody After 7-Hour Standoff
A gunman shot two suburban St. Louis police officers in the torso before barricading himself inside a home Thursday, but bulletproof vests saved both officers from serious injury. The shooting happened in the city of Bellefontaine Neighbors.

Cop Killer To Be Set Free After Troopers' Union Loses Appeal
John Ruzas, the man convicted of killing New York State Trooper Emerson Dillon in 1974, is scheduled to be released from prison Monday after the New York State Troopers' union lost its appeal in state Supreme court. A judge denied the NYS Troopers' Police Benevolent Association's appeal to keep Ruzas in prison.

Gang officers from LAPD's North Hollywood Division arrived at Maud Booth Family Center to deliver toys to underprivileged children. Los Angeles police were seeking clues Monday after a man was found fatally shot in Sun Valley early Friday. LAPD Foothill Division patrol officers responded to a “man-down” ambulance radio call in the 11900 block of Allegheny Street about 7:10 a.m. Friday, authorities said in a news release.

Panorama City Bus-Bench Shooting Victims Identified
The coroner's office today released the names of two men fatally shot at a bus bench in Panorama City. They were James Rodriguez, 29 and Elvis Sanchez, 31, both of Panorama City. The men were shot about 3:20 a.m. Friday near Van Nuys Boulevard and Chase Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police Pursue Motorcycle In East LA
Police pursued the driver of a wrong-way motorcycle Friday in the East Los Angeles area. The erratic driver sped through multiple freeways before he ditched the vehicle at Fifth Street and Lorena Street. Police lost sight of the driver after he fled the scene.

Bicyclist Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In San Fernando Valley
Authorities are looking for a driver of a newer model Mazda CX-5 wanted in connection with slamming into a Burbank bicyclist on Dec. 9 in Sun Valley that left the rider in serious condition. The felony hit-and-run was reported around 2:23 p.m. as a crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist in Sun Valley, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Police are looking for two men they say burglarized a family-owned bakery in El Sereno that was caught on surveillance video. The break-in happened early Sunday morning at the Antigua Bread on Huntington Drive. The owners say they had a large Christmas party at the bakery and restaurant Saturday night.

The LAPD spent hours Saturday hoping the public could help them identifying a found boy's family member or legal guardian. A boy, about 8-10 years of age, was observed by Los Angeles Police Department Officers around 1 p.m. jumping on and off and on a Metro Purple Line train heading towards Union Station.

New California Law Bans Sm oking, Ingesting Marijuana While Driving Or Riding In Car
The sale of recreational pot will be legal at shops across California starting in January 2018. But consumers won't be able to light up or snack on any marijuana products while driving or riding as a passenger in a car. A new law that goes into effect Jan.1 bans smoking or ingesting any cannabis products while behind the wheel.

Massachusettes Could Become 29th State To Have 'Blue Alert' System
Massachusetts could become the 29th state to put in place a “Blue Alert” notification system that alerts the public to fugitives on the run after injuring or killing a cop — the same way Amber Alerts help capture kidnappers and Silver Alerts bring home wandering elders. The Joint Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety will hear testimony at the State House tomorrow on House Bill 1308, proposed by Republican Reps. Todd M. Smola of Warren and Timothy R. Whelan of Brewster.

Aliso Canyon Sees Hour-Long Gas Leak After Equipment Failure
A new gas leak was reported Monday night at the Southern California Gas facility near Porter Ranch. People who live near Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility started reporting the smell of natural gas around 5 p.m. SoCal Gas said a gasket suddenly failed during an equipment pressurizing operation, leading to the unplanned leaking of natural gas for about 50 minutes.
