Man Wanted In Texas LEO's Death Arrested
A man was arrested Thursday in the killing of a Houston-area police sergeant who was struck by a vehicle during a traffic stop, authorities announced. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said 21-year-old Tavores Henderson was taken into custody without incident at a home in Houston. Nassau Bay police Sgt. Kaila Sullivan was assisting in a traffic stop at an apartment complex Tuesday night when police discovered the driver, later identified as Henderson, had an outstanding warrant for assault. Henderson broke free from police as he was being handcuffed. Authorities allege Henderson fled in his vehicle and struck Sullivan, who later died at a hospital. Henderson is facing a felony murder charge in Sullivan's death, but authorities have said it could be upgraded to capital murder.

Florida Deputy Shot After Officers Respond To Call At Home
A deputy was shot and injured in the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday afternoon after officers arrived for a suicide threat in a neighborhood outside Pensacola. “Once on scene the suspect opened fired on responding deputies, the deputies returned fire,” the Escambia County Sheriff's Office posted on its Facebook page. The sheriff's office received the call at 1:37 p.m. EST regarding a suicide threat in the 400 block of Limerick Lane. One deputy suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital. The suspect also was taken to a local hospital. The incident occurred in a neighborhood of midcentury ranch houses about 13 miles north of the Pensacola Naval Air Station, where a gunman left three dead and eight injured in a shooting last week.

LAPD Seeking Help To Find H&R Driver In Winnetka
Los Angeles police asked for the public's help Thursday to find a hit-and-run driver who collided with a motorcycle back in October in Winnetka that severely injured the rider. The crash took place about 6:25 a.m. on October 15, at the intersection of Saticoy Street and De Soto Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division, the motorcyclist was headed north on De Soto Avenue when the collision occurred, police said. A rear bumper of a 2000 or 2001 silver or gray Toyota Camry was recovered at the scene, police reported. The motorcyclist was hospitalized with severe injuries, police said. Anyone with information on this crash was asked to call LAPD's Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8022 or the LAPD's 24-hour tipline at (877) LAPD-24-7.

LAPD, Consumer Affairs Raid Pot Dispensary In Palms
Los Angeles police officers and agents from the state's Department of Consumer Affairs served a search warrant on an alleged illegal pot dispensary in the Palms area today and took six people into custody, authorities said. The operation took place just before 2 p.m. at "Savings Greens," located at 11221 Venice Blvd., said Bureau of Consumer Affairs, Cannabis Control spokesman Alex Traverso. "We served a search warrant in response to a complaint we received about illegal marijuana sales at this location," Traverso said. The Cannabis Control office investigates all complaints, Traverso continued. "We already did surveillance on this location before the raid," he said. "Our agents took everything from the location that wasn't bolted down to make it as difficult as possible for them to start back up." The six people who were arrested were working there, Traverso said. They were cited and charges were pending.

Rapper TMG Fresh Robbed At His Encino Home
LAPD officers are investigating an armed robbery in Encino where the rapper known as TMG Fresh lives. The robbery was reported about 2:30 a.m. on Hayvenhurst Avenue, just south of Ventura Boulevard. Police said the victim was rapper TMG Fresh. TMG Fresh, whose given name is Douglas Jordan, was reportedly returning home with a friend when they were approached by three men and held at gunpoint. The robbers may have gotten away with as much as $1 million in cash and jewelry, but no injuries were reported. The rapper is best known for his hit singles “Throw A Stack,” “Silk Pajamas” and “Millionaire”. His social media channels contain videos of him showing off his home, cars and other possessions. There was no response to a request for comment from Jordan's representatives.

Man Sentenced To 32 Years For Tarzana Double-Murder Stemming From Botched Drug Deal
One of two men convicted of a double-murder in Tarzana shortly after a botched drug deal was sentenced Wednesday to 32 years to life in state prison. Tomas Ramos Ochoa, 37, of Los Angeles was found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder for the June 2, 2015, shooting deaths of Christian Barrera-Rivera, 23, and Sonny Pena, 28. Co-defendant Guillermo Teran, 27, of Oxnard was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder. Teran is set to be sentenced Dec. 17. The two victims were initially fired upon in Woodland Hills soon after driving up to a vehicle containing the defendants for what was to be a drug deal, according to evidence presented at the trial. Barrera-Rivera and Pena sped away, but Teran and Ochoa caught up with them in Tarzana, and the victims were found shot near Corbin Avenue and Calvert Street, according to prosecutors. Teran was taken into custody a day after the shooting, and Ochoa was arrested almost a week later.

Suspect In Brutal Attack Of Elderly Woman Taken Into Custody
A Sacramento man is waiting to be transported back to Los Angeles County to face criminal charges stemming from a brutal attack on an elderly woman on Nov. 16. Authorities say 28-year-old Kenneth Jordan Wilburn followed the victim while walking home from a local grocery store in Santa Monica, and once she was off the main street, he grabbed her from behind, took her to the ground, and began to strangle her. Santa Monica police say the suspect violently strangled her causing the elderly woman to lose consciousness multiple times during the attack. The vicious attack occurred in the 2100 block of 7th Street at about 6 p.m. The attack ended when a random car driving by caused Wilburn to flee, Santa Monica police said. Wilburn was taken into custody by the Santa Monica Police Department with the assistance of the Sacramento Police Department on Dec. 3. He is being held on a $60,000 bail.

Woman Accused Of Walking Away From Long Beach Store With $38,000 Bracelet
Police are investigating a theft at a Long Beach jewelry store where a woman walked out with a $38,000 bracelet. A customer entered J&L Jewelry on Friday, Dec. 6 at about noon. The woman was “well-dressed... flashing cash, talking big and carrying a designer handbag,” according to the store's owner, Janis Krantz. The woman claimed she was looking for a bracelet for her husband to give her on Christmas, Krantz said. The woman selected a $38,000 bracelet and placed it in her handbag while the employee tending to her was distracted. She later purchased a set of $125 earrings walked out of the store with the bracelet still in her bag. A report of grand theft was filed with the Long Beach Police Department on Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing.

California Man Arrested For Holding Girlfriend At Gunpoint, Forcing Her To Take Miscarriage Pills: PD
Authorities in central California have arrested a man they say forced his pregnant girlfriend to take drugs at gunpoint so she would have a miscarriage. Bakersfield police say 23-year-old Jagmeet Sandhu was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder, domestic assault and false imprisonment. It's unclear if he has an attorney. Police say they received a report shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday from someone who claimed that a pregnant family member had been held at gunpoint by her boyfriend, who forced her to take some pills of an unknown type. The woman miscarried at a hospital.

LAFD Takes World's First Fully Electric Fire Truck For A Spin Around Dodger Stadium
Not to be outdone by the Los Angeles Police Department's test run with a Tesla patrol car, the L.A. Fire Department announced Thursday that it tried out the world's first fully electric fire engine. LAFD shared video of Chief Ralph Terrazas taking the Rosenbauer Concept Fire Truck for a spin outside Dodger Stadium on its Instagram page. “There's no other one like it in the world right now,” Terrazas says in the video. It's unclear when exactly the local test took place, but Terrazas first posted a photo of the rig to his Instagram on Dec. 6. The chief said “the acceleration is incredible, as well as the breaking.” He also noted that it has a diesel on-board generator as a backup power source. The first CFT prototype was introduced in 2016, and Rosenbauer is now working with Volvo Penta in hopes of bringing it to market.

L.A. Councilman Asks City To Divest Public Pensions From Oil, Gas Companies
Los Angeles City Councilman Bob Blumenfield called Wednesday for a review of the city's civilian pension-fund investments, and for the development of a plan to divest from companies that contribute to the effects of climate change. “It's time to look into our collective financial health and, for the sake of future Angelenos, ensure that we no longer invest in companies that are literally killing our world,” Blumenfield said. “As the second largest city in the nation, it's imperative that we lead by example and show the world that you can have profitable investments without embracing climate change enablers.” According to Blumenfield's office, the Los Angeles City Employees' Retirement System has invested more than $100 million in oil companies, many of which “have shown no interest in moving toward renewable energy.”
