Sheriff: Killing Of Arkansas LEO Was An Intentional ‘Anti-Law Enforcement' Act
A police officer who was killed in his patrol car in northwest Arkansas was shot 10 times in the head and his killer was interested in anti-law enforcement groups, sheriffs officials said Friday in releasing video from the scene and autopsy details. Officer Stephen Carr was fatally shot outside police headquarters in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Saturday night. Authorities said 35-year-old London Philips approached Carr's vehicle and shot him at point-blank range. Two other officers later shot and killed Phillips. The Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a statement posted on Facebook that searches of Phillips' social medial accounts indicate he was interested in anti-law enforcement groups. The post didn't identify the groups nor his level of interaction with them. Police have said Phillips was “looking for an officer to kill” when he shot Carr.

The string of crimes took place between June and October, generally between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department said in a written statement. "The suspects entered the businesses with empty back packs or shopping bags and concealed high dollar fragrances in their empty bags," the statement said. "The suspects would then leave the store without paying for the merchandise." Eleven similar heists have been reported within Los Angeles, resulting in thousands of dollars worth of losses, officials said. They took place at the Beverly Center, The Grove and in Century City, according to the police statement. ‘Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over,' California Police Agencies Warn As Holiday DUI Enforcement Begins
California law enforcement is kicking off the holiday DUI enforcement period this weekend with a stern message to all motorists: “drive sober or get pulled over.” From Friday, Dec. 13, through New Year's Day, additional officers will be on the lookout for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs across the state, according to multiple police agencies. The Cypress, Fontana and Lodi police departments also said they will conduct DUI/driver's license checkpoints at undisclosed locations during the holiday season. “Unfortunately, this time of year is when we see more people driving impaired,” Fontana Police Department Sgt. Kurt Schlotterbeck said in a news release. “There is no excuse for driving after drinking or using drugs that impair. There are many ways to get home safely without driving.” Last year, in just the four-day period that ended the night of Christmas, the California Highway Patrol arrested 1,059 suspected DUI drivers. That was up from the same period in 2017, when there were 917 DUI arrests.

Here's What You Need To Know About The Process And Voting For 2020 Election For SF Valley Seats On LA City Council
There are four San Fernando Valley seats on the Los Angeles City Council up for the March 3, 2020 municipal election. The process of becoming a candidate for one of the districts – 2, 4, 6, 12 – began with an individual's passion for improving the quality of life for those living in a particular district. But before the details of mounting a campaign and all that follows, the focus was how to declare their candidacy with the city. Individuals interested in running for the Primary Nominating Election for a city council seat had to file a declaration of intention by Nov. 9, 2019. Candidates then had a choice of paying a $300 filing fee and submitting a Nominating Petition (no less than 500 signatures and no more than 1,000; 500 signatures must be valid voters); or, a candidate could waive the fee but file the Nomination Petition (no less than 1,000 and no more than 2,000; 1,000 signatures must be valid). The filing period for Nominating Petitions began on Nov. 9 and ended on Dec. 4. The candidates have to file at the City Clerk's Election Division Office in Los Angeles.
