A little bit about our founder, Bill Murray

Bill Murray is updating, improving and adding features to the Los Angeles Community Policing effort, which now includes the "Community Matters" Internet Radio Show, which currently airs three nights a week. He's added new National information to the web site at LACP.org .. broadening our perspective and appeal.

"I have long felt that America has an untapped inner resource, her people," says Bill, "whose contributions could be enormous if requested and moderately supported. The universe responds when folks serve their communities, volunteering their time and taking social service positions within them. All participation is important, and WHAT one does matters less than the fact that everyone can, and should, do SOMEthing."

Mr. Murray founded the un-funded and out-of-pocket regional non-profit Los Angeles Community Policing in response to 9-11. Continuously published since early 2002, the LACP website now has well over 1900 pages .. and is easily the world's largest grassroots effort of its type: http://www.LACP.org

Los Angeles Community Policing is described as ".. a forum for the dissemination of information, sharing of ideas and suggesting of ways the community can become engaged in making our streets safer, and improve the quality of life."

Please be watching for more information about the upcoming Internet Radio Show. And, as always, please invite your community-involved friends to visit the LACP web site, join the LA Community Policing e-group or follow Bill Murray on Twitter, Facebook or Myspace.

"Community-based policing (policing with a small "p") means leaving something in better shape than you find it," says Bill. "It's not just about public safety, although crime and it's prevention is certainly a prominent issue for LACP. But it also speaks to the many ways a community can become involved in watching over each other, participating in self governance, lending a hand in neighborhood projects and improving the quality of life."

Yours in service,

Bill
