Thousands expected for San Jose police officer's funeral
Thousands of police officers, citizens and community members are expected to attend funeral services Thursday for slain San Jose police Officer Michael Johnson. The public memorial for Johnson, who was 38, will begin 11 a.m. at the SAP Center at 525 W. Santa Clara St. in downtown San Jose.

Former LAPD Employee in Custody After Barricade, SWAT Standoff
A woman who used to work for the Los Angeles Police Department was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with SWAT officers following a domestic dispute at her Van Nuys home, police said. A man who identified himself as an LAPD detective called police about 12:15 a.m. to report that he was a victim of a domestic dispute, police said.

$50K Reward Approved to Find Driver Of Fatal Hit-And-Run Near University of Southern California
The Los Angeles City Council has approved a $50,000 reward to help track down the hit-and-run driver who killed a man last month near the University of Southern California. Surveillance video of the March 10 wreck shows 58-year-old Elias Aceves in a clearly marked crosswalk when the black sedan hit him.

Authorities Wednesday asked for the public's help in locating a missing 60-year-old woman from Los Angeles. Zakiyyah Elamin was last seen about 7 a.m. on March 23 in the 1000 block of West 39th Street, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a written statement.

LAPD investigating homicide in Valley Glen
Los Angeles police Wednesday were investigating a fatal shooting in the southeast San Fernando Valley. A man in his 20s was shot and killed about 8:10 p.m. in the 6400 block of Fulton Avenue in Valley Glen, police said. The suspect remained at large, and officers were setting up a perimeter, police said.

Man shot to death while exiting bus in apparent gang-related attack
A man in his late 30s was fatally shot while getting off a bus in the southwest part of Los Angeles city early Wednesday, in what's believed to be a gang-related attack, police reported. The shooting occurred at Buckingham Road and Santa Rosalia Drive about 3:30 a.m. said Officer Nuria Venegas of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

2 killed, child wounded in Hawthorne shooting involving officer
A shooting Wednesday afternoon involving Hawthorne police left a man and a woman dead and wounded a 12-year-old boy, authorities said. Around 12:40 p.m., a woman driving a Mercedes in the 14200 block of Kornblum Avenue stopped her car next to a Hawthorne police officer sitting in his parked patrol car, according to the Los Angeles County sheriff's department.

A homeless man in Garden Grove was recognized as a hero Wednesday for helping police locate a missing teen who is autistic, after he disappeared from a shopping plaza. Charles Truong, 17, wandered away while shopping with his mother on Tuesday afternoon at the Binh Supermarket.

City Council approves $2.45-million deal with Occupy L.A. protesters
The Los Angeles City Council approved a $2.45-million agreement Wednesday to settle all claims involving Occupy L.A. protesters arrested during a violent clash with Los Angeles police in 2011.Although the City Council agreed to settle, the deal must still be approved by a U.S. District Court judge before it's finalized, said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the city attorney's office.
