A woman who was fatally shot in her car after her 12-year-old son made eye contact with a passenger in another vehicle was identified Thursday, while authorities announced the arrests of two associates of the gunman, who was killed by a Hawthorne police officer.

Deadly Wilmington hotel fire deemed 'suspicious'
A deadly fire that forced residents to leap out of windows as flames swept through a hotel early Thursday in Wilmington is considered suspicious, fire officials said. Arson investigators with the Los Angeles Fire Department were sifting through debris from the fire that killed a man and injured 15 others.

Missing 2-year-old girl in Gardena is found in Cudahy
Police in Gardena say a 2-year-old girl who went missing Thursday afternoon was abducted, then found hours later in Cudahy after her kidnapper dropped her off. Stacy Lopez was last seen about 4:55 p.m. near the intersection of 149th Street and Western Avenue, according to Gardena police.

Public hearing in West L.A. Thursday to discuss wage hike
A Los Angeles City Council committee will hold a public hearing in West Los Angeles Thursday night to talk about a proposal to raise the minimum wage to as much as $15.25 per hour by 2019. The Economic Development Committee hearing is the fourth and final meeting being held around the city to give the public a chance to weigh in on the plan.
