LAPPL supports proposed body camera policy
Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) President Craig Lally released the following statement regarding the proposed Special Order for body worn cameras on police officers: “Over the past several months, the LAPPL has been working closely with the Department in a meet and confer process regarding the deployment of body worn cameras within the LAPD. These discussions have been constructive and have resulted in a body worn video policy that is fair, reasonable and consistent with Department of Justice recommendations, other departments' policies and our current Digital In-Car Video policy.

The Los Angeles City Council approved a $50,000 reward Tuesday for leads in the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old man in the Palms area last week. Christopher John Paul was walking back to his apartment at 2:30 p.m. April 22 when someone approached and shot him from behind. The shooting in the 3300 block of Mentone Avenue happened a week after a series of shootings in the same general area, including gunfire at a park that left one man dead and another wounded.

Decomposed Body Identified As Missing Laguna Hills Woman
Orange County sheriff's officials confirmed Tuesday that a decomposed body found in Orange County was identified as a 28-year-old Laguna Hills woman who had been missing since February. A group of biologists working for Caltrans discovered the body of Erica Alonso Monday night in a creek bed, located one mile east of the San Juan Capistrano Fire/Ranger Station on the Ortega Highway near Hot Springs Road, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Statewide ballot measure proposed to raise California's minimum wage
California's state minimum wage would reach $15 by 2021 if a proposed ballot measure passes next year. SEIU United Healthcare Workers West is seeking passage of a ballot measure in November 2016 to raise California's minimum wage by $1 a year, reaching the $15 mark in six years. The union, which represents health care workers, filed state paperwork Monday to launch “The Fair Wage Act of 2016,” a spokesman said.
