New Plan to Reduce Future Disaster Risk
Free Community Workshop

Emergency Preparedness Department

The City of Los Angeles announces the completion of its draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. This step in a long-range planning effort is to identify local hazards and vulnerabilities and actions to reduce potential impact from future disasters. The comprehensive plan is the culmination of a year-long effort by the Local Hazard Mitigation Task Force, led by the City’s Emergency Preparedness Department. More than thirty City Departments, outside agencies and community-based organizations are active members of the Task Force that meet on a monthly basis.

Who: The Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Task Force and the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment
What: Community Workshop to discuss the plan.
When: Monday, September 20, 2004 from 10:00 a.m. until noon
Where: City Hall East, P–4 Level, EOB Room E-148
Invited: All interested citizens, officials, community group representatives, business and industry officials and other local organizations in order to learn more about the draft plan and provide
comment.
