Input on Upcoming Audits

As the Controller for the City of Los Angeles, I have been working very hard during the last three years to ensure that our City is run efficiently, fairly and honestly. I have examined several City departments and their business processes and procedures, including the Department of Water and Power, the Airport, the Port of Los Angeles and the Community Development Department.

My audit plan for this year will focus heavily on departments that provide direct community services. For example, I will soon begin taking a look at the Planning, Building & Safety, and Recreation & Parks Departments. As you well know, these departments provide critical services to both residents and business owners alike on a daily basis.

With this in mind, I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know your thoughts on how well these departments are doing in serving the needs of your communities. I am looking for specific concerns and/or ideas regarding the services they deliver.
