Police Activity League (PAL) Program
LAPD's Juvenile Division

The PAL Program gives disadvantaged youth the opportunity to participate in self-enhancement activities such as educational field trips and recreational/athletic activities. Department personnel coordinate and supervise the activities at each participating geographic Area Community Police Station.

Program Goals

The PAL Program relies on educational, athletic, recreational, and leisure activities to develop a partnership between police officers and our community's youth. This broad range of goals and guidelines is developed in adherence to the following activities:

Education;
Athletics;
Recreation counseling;
After school support groups;
Volunteer activities; and,
Family mentoring.

Program Criteria

The PAL Program promotes trust and understanding between young people and police officers by bringing youth under the supervision and constructive influence of Department personnel. The Department is firmly committed to the belief that those youth who participate in the PAL Program will become stakeholders in their communities and valuable members of society.

Program Outreach

The PAL Program is a youth crime prevention program for children, ages 6 through 17 years.

Currently, approximately 2,170 youth are involved in the PAL Program at eight Area Community Police Stations including Rampart, Hollenbeck, Newton, Southwest, 77th Street, Hollywood, West Los Angeles and Devonshire Areas.
