Jan. 11, 2012 — ICE deports man wanted for murder in El Salvador

Miguel Velis-Cruz was wanted in El Salvador for aggravated homicide. On Wednesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers transferred him to the custody of El Salvadorian law enforcement officials.

Jan. 11, 2012 — Las Vegas woman sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for cocaine smuggling

When Darnelld Rebeca Colman drove her car from Mexico into Arizona through the San Luis port of entry, federal officers discovered that she had more than 20 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a secret compartment in the roof of the vehicle. This week, she was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The case was jointly investigated by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Jan. 11, 2012 — 50 individuals charged in Puerto Rico with allegedly trafficking identities of Puerto Rican US citizens

From 2009 to 2011, conspirators in 15 states and Puerto Rico trafficked the identities of Puerto Rican U.S. citizens, along with corresponding Social Security cards, birth certificates, and other identification documents, to undocumented aliens and others residing in the United States. ICE HSI, in partnership with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, led the investigation that resulted in charges against 50 individuals involved in the scheme.

Jan. 9, 2012 — ICE, CBP release report on 2011 counterfeit seizures

This week, ICE and CBP released the Intellectual Property Rights Fiscal Year 2011 Seizures Statistics Report. Together, these two agencies seized 24,792 counterfeit or pirated goods during fiscal year 2011 — a 24 percent increase over the previous year.

Jan. 9, 2012 — ICE HSI agents arrest fugitive, member of Juarez kidnapping ring

An El Paso-area fast-food restaurant cook remains in federal custody after ICE HSI agents arrested him Dec. 27 for illegally re-entering the country after being deported. He allegedly belongs to the kidnapping ring "El Neto," a criminal organization targeting business people in the Juarez area of Mexico.
