April 11, 2012 — Wanted Brazilian national deported from the US
A Brazilian national illegally residing in Massachusetts, who was wanted in his home country for his involvement in a murder, was turned over to Brazilian law enforcement authorities in São Paulo, Brazil. He was removed from the United States by officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations ( ERO ). This individual was originally identified after ICE's Homeland Security Investigations ( HSI ) and the Massachusetts State Police obtained a law enforcement tip that he was residing in the Boston-area.

April 11, 2012 — Miami man pleads guilty in ozone-depleting substance case
A Miami businessman pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection with the illegal receipt, purchase and sale of ozone-depleting refrigerant gas that had been smuggled into the United States. According to court records, Carlos Garcia, 53, was the senior vice-president of Marcone's Heating and Cooling Division responsible for executing legal purchases and sales of refrigerant gas. Instead, Garcia engaged in the purchase and sale of black market hydrochlorofluorocarbon-22, which is a widely used refrigerant for residential heat pump and air-conditioning systems.

April 10, 2012 — HSI arrests fugitive wanted for illegal possession, sale of firearms
Jose Hernandez-Santana, a fugitive who has been at-large since April 5, made his initial appearance in federal court Tuesday following his arrest by HSI special agents for illegally possessing firearms. He was one of 11 individuals indicted for selling illegal firearms. He was arrested during a multi-agency takedown in several municipalities of Puerto Rico.

April 9, 2012 — Boston doctor sentenced to 21 years for traveling to Alaska to have sex with minor
John Mark Felton, a Boston doctor, was sentenced to 21 years in federal prison Friday following a probe by HSI that revealed he traveled to Alaska to have sex with a 5-year-old boy. He was met by law enforcement in Alaska and arrested. At the time of his arrest, investigators determined Felton had amassed a collection of more than 1,200 images and at least 70 videos of boys and girls being sexually abused.

April 9, 2012 — California man charged with trafficking counterfeit computer software
HSI special agents arrested a California man for allegedly importing more than 1,000 counterfeit Microsoft Office CD-ROMs and selling them to unsuspecting customers over the Internet. He is charged in a four-count federal indictment following the seizure of two shipments of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2007 software CD-ROMs.
