Aug. 16, 2012 — 2 North Carolina men sentenced for weapons smuggling

Two North Carolina men have been sentenced to federal prison for attempting to export arms and ammunition to Mexico, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Jackson County Interdiction Team.

Aug. 15, 2012 — Houston drug trafficker sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison

The leader of a local drug trafficking organization, who distributed hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and transported millions of dollars in drug proceeds to Mexican drug traffickers, was sentenced Wednesday to nearly 22 years in prison. This Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force investigation, dubbed "Operation GoodRum," was conducted jointly by HSI and the Internal Revenue Service's Criminal Investigation Division.

Aug. 14, 2012 — Hampton Roads BEST Force makes third drug bust in 3 weeks

The Hampton Roads-based multi-agency Border Enforcement Security Task Force seized another two kilograms of cocaine, plus two kilograms of heroin, concealed within the ceiling of a vessel arriving at the Port of Norfolk this past weekend.

Aug. 13, 2012 — Virginia man sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography

A Virginia man was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison and 15 years of supervised release earlier this week for receiving child pornography over the Internet. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and forfeit his computer media. This case was being investigated by HSI, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Aug. 10, 2012 – HSI special agents honored by the city of South San Francisco

The mayor, city manager and police chief from the California city of South San Francisco recently traveled to Los Angeles to personally thank HSI special agents for their courage and sacrifice during Operation Red Tidings — an enforcement operation aimed at arresting the 13 at-large street gang members who were allegedly tied to multiple murders, robberies and drug trafficking in northern California.
