Tennis umpire's false arrest lawsuit against LAPD is dismissed
A U.S. District Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by a tennis umpire against the Los Angeles Police Department and county coroner's office alleging she was falsely arrested and wrongfully accused of bludgeoning her husband to death with a coffee cup.

LAPD Arrests Man Allegedly Fought Off by Woman in Boyle Heights
A woman attacked on her way to her car in Boyle Heights fought her assailant off by biting and hitting him Saturday, police said. Those wounds led to the arrest of a man who admitted himself to a hospital with injuries he would have received from the victim defending herself in the attack, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.

L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. restricts deputies' use of in-car devices
Typing behind the wheel is not illegal for law enforcement officers, as it is for civilian drivers in California. But under the revised policy enacted Feb. 25, L.A. County deputies may use their computers only when they are pulled over or stopped at a light. Exceptions include emergencies or when a deputy hits a single button such as "acknowledge" or "en route."
