CODEWATCH ... LA's Community Inspectors

Here's an excellent opportunity for volunteer residents to be directly involved in improving the quality of life ...

The City's "Codewatch" program aims to reduce neighborhood blight through the use of volunteer resources. Trained community inspectors identify eyesores which violate City of Los Angeles municipal laws.

Their reports facilitate a written notice from the City to the respective party informing them about our City's laws and services. Unsolved situations are referred to the respective City department for priority enforcement.

To volunteer as a Codewatch Community Inspector call:

The effort to keep Los Angeles a beautiful city is one that needs all of our participation. Please help to distribute this information, and utilize the municipal services listed below.

Let your local City Council member or the Mayor know what is needed to make this City better. LACP.org makes that easy for you by maintaining a "Virtual City Hall" page.

The Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) is the legal tool used by the City to determine what acceptable community standards are within City limits. Ordinances contained in the Municipal Code are laws passed by our elected officials in City Council and enforced by the respective City agency.

NOTE: To reference the current Los Angeles Municipal Code you can always go to the City of Los Angeles "City Council Library" (where there's lots of other useful information, too) and click on the "Municipal Code" section.
