Los Angeles Citywide Alliance of Neighborhood Councils
. . . a survey of Neighborhood Councils

Los Angeles stakeholders gather from all corners of the City for the forums of the Alliance of Neighborhood Councils.

Representatives from DONE, BONC and a variety of City Departments regularly meet with Neighborhood Council stakeholders, who form the Alliance of Neighborhood Councils.

These forums, held every two months, have become an important part of the process of sharing current information about the emerging Neighborhood Councils and their relationships with the City.

The most recent meeting was held on Saturday, July 19, in the Faculty Center at Los Angeles City College on Vermont.

Stakeholders from Certified Neighborhood Councils, some with elected Boards, mingle easily with those who represent groups still in the process of being formed at these forums, which are quickly becoming not-to-be-missed events.

The format of the July meeting was a little differenct, because each of the over 40 Neighborhood Councils that attended were given an opportunity to let everyone know what's been going well, and what hasn't.

The results of these reports were combined into a survey, and a letter about how to access it appears below:

Dear Neighborhood Council Leader:

At the July 19th Forum of the Citywide Alliance of Neighborhood Councils, 40 NC's responded to our request to present their greatest accomplishment and their biggest roadblock. The results of our survey provide a snapshot of the status of the overall citywide program, in it's second year of implementation.

Check out the results at www.allncs.org/status_survey.htm.

If any additional NCs wish to add their accomplishment/roadblock to the list, please send us the information to NoahM@allncs.org.

Our next forum will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, September 20th, at LA City College. More information will be posted at www.allncs.org as it becomes available.

Hope to see you there,

The Steering Committee of the Citywide Alliance of Neighborhood Councils
.

Also of special note is the new LA Issues Action Network (IAN) which has been created to help Neighborhood Councils in Los Angeles learn about current citywide issues and coalesce with other Councils.

The website is up and running, though the group is still in the growth stage. For more information, click below:
