To All Neighborhood Council Board Members:

SUBJECT: Updated Financial Support to Neighborhood Council Elections to be Administered by the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment for  Fiscal Year 2008-09

On May 8, 2008, the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE) released an informational bulletin about the Department's financial challenges and the uncertainty of providing financial support associated with neighborhood council elections beginning July 1, 2008. Now that the City's final budget has been approved, we are pleased to inform you that the Department will be able to continue providing financial assistance for election related expenses as we have in the past. This same level of financial assistance is for elections that the Department will administer through December, 2008

NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL ELECTION SUPPORT

Printing/Photocopying : 1 (one), double-sided, letter-size (8 ? x 11) paper, per language using City contracted vendor. If the Neighborhood Council wishes to use an outside vendor, the NC will incur the cost. Number of Service Activity:   Two times

Material Distribution: Mass distributions of election notices using the City approved distribution vendor or using the City's bulk rate US Postal Service postage permit. If the Neighborhood Council wishes to use an outside vendor, the NC will incur the cost.

Number of Service Activity:   Two times

Translation : Up to eight (8) hours of verbal interpretation services. Written translation services may be provided on a case-by-case basis subject to approval.

Facility : Up to ten (10) hours or $300 maximum of facilities cost for events such as Election Information Session, Candidate Info Session, Candidate Forum, and Election Day.

Independent Election Administrator: Full rate
