Opening Our Doors for a Day of Dialogue:
Straight Talk in Tough Times

Dear Friend of the LAFD:

Los Angeles Fire Chief Bill Bamattre and the men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department invite your participation in the "Day of Dialogue" program scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2005.

http://www.daysofdialogue.org

This program's objective is to open doors of communication between members of the community and those who serve them. This year's event will focus on the recent events surrounding the death of 13-year old Devin Brown.

Within this collaborative effort, the LAFD will partner with the Days of Dialogue Program, City Attorney's Dispute Resolution Program and the Los Angeles Police Department by serving as a program host agency.

Active participation in this community outreach event allows the men and women of our Department to:

Encourage neighborhood dialogue on issues concerning diverse populations, enabling the Fire Department to further it positive impact the neighborhoods we serve.

Develop and strengthen our relationships with community organizations (e.g. block clubs, homeowner's associations, churches, cultural centers, etc.)

Establish and share collective goals that improve safety and the quality of life in communities.

The one-day, two-hour dialogue program will begin at 9:00 am, and will occur at fifteen selected locations in the City coinciding with each of the Council Districts. Fire Department facilities will be used as host sites for twelve of these meetings.

Each meeting is scheduled from 09:00 AM * 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 26th.
