The City Ethics Commission's Whistleblower Hotline is a toll-free "800" telephone number that you can use anonymously to report violations of any of the following:

.....City Campaign Laws - The City's Campaign laws can be found in City Charter sections 312. 313, 314, 315, 316; Los Angeles Municipal Code section 49.7.1 et seq.; Los Angeles Administrative Code section 24.5 et seq. and Los Angeles Administrative Code section 24.6.

.....Municipal Lobbying Ordinance - The Municipal Lobbying Ordinance, Los Angeles Municipal Code section 48.01 et seq., regulates the registration and reporting requirements for lobbyists and lobbying firms that are hired by private interests to influence City decisions The City's Campaign Laws defines the requirements imposed upon candidates for elective City office and their contributors. These requirements include limits on contributions, when contributions can be received and administration of the public matching funds program.

.....Governmental Ethics Ordinance - The Governmental Ethics Ordinance, Los Angeles Code section 49.5.1 et seq., prohibits the use of City position or resources for private benefit; or governs the disclosure of economic interests by specified City employees; and, it imposes certain restrictions on gifts, outside income and future employment for City employees.

.....Conflict of Interest Laws - The Conflict of Interest Laws, Government Code section 87100 et seq. and section 1090, cover disclosure and disqualification requirements for public officials.] of any of the following: City Campaign Laws Municipal Lobbying Ordinance Governmental Ethics Ordinance Conflict of Interest Laws

When you call the Whistleblower Hotline, you will hear a short message and have an opportunity to record your message. Remember, you do not have to identify yourself. All information you provide will be treated confidentially by the City Ethics Commission and will be investigated promptly.

If your complaint does not involve a violation of the above laws, these REFERRALS may help direct you to the proper agency.
