The Commission assists in assuring to all people the opportunity for full and equal
participation in the affairs of City government and promotes the general welfare and safety
of all residents in the Los Angeles community through activities and programs designed to
reduce discrimination, tension and violence and to advance improved inter-group relations.
The Commission supports efforts to create a city free of racism and violence where
residents may live and work in an environment of respect, mutual tolerance and human
diversity.
PLEASE NOTE: July 27, 2009 - As some of you may know, the Human Relations Commission has
consolidated with the Commission on Children, Youth and Their Families
and the Commission on the Status of Women to form the new Human
Services Department. We encourage you to learn more about the
programs and services that the new Department will be offering at the
all-Commission meeting on Thursday, July 30, 2009 from 9am-12pm in
City Hall's Bradley Tower. Please see attached flier for the agenda.
